Bengaluru Man Extorts Girlfriend Using Private Videos: A Shocking Tale of Betrayal

Bengaluru Woman Loses Over ₹2.5 Crore and Luxury Car to Ex-Boyfriend’s Blackmail

In a distressing case of betrayal, a 20-year-old woman from Bengaluru fell victim to an elaborate blackmail scheme orchestrated by her boyfriend, Mohan Kumar. The man exploited their relationship, using intimate videos to extort more than ₹2.5 crore, expensive watches, jewelry, and even a luxury car.

A Promising Relationship Turns into a Nightmare

The victim and Mohan Kumar initially met during their boarding school days. Though they lost contact over the years, fate brought them together again, leading to a romantic relationship. Kumar promised marriage and took the woman on several trips, during which he secretly recorded intimate moments.

Police officials revealed that Kumar assured his girlfriend the videos were for personal use. However, in some of these recordings, he deliberately avoided showing his face. Later, he weaponized these videos to threaten her, claiming he would release them publicly unless his monetary demands were met.

Blackmail and Extortion Unfolds

Shaken and desperate to protect her privacy, the young woman began fulfilling Kumar’s demands. Initially, she secretly withdrew ₹1.25 crore from her grandmother’s bank account and transferred the money to accounts specified by Kumar. Over time, the extortion escalated, leading her to hand over ₹1.32 crore in cash on multiple occasions.

In addition to the cash, Kumar coerced the victim into giving him expensive watches, jewelry, and even a high-end luxury car. Shockingly, some of the extorted money was transferred to accounts belonging to Kumar’s father.

Courage to Fight Back

The relentless blackmail continued until the victim decided she could no longer endure the harassment. Summoning her courage, she approached the Bengaluru police and lodged a complaint against Kumar.

The police acted promptly, leading to Mohan Kumar’s arrest. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand described the crime as “well-planned” and stated that the accused had extorted a total of ₹2.57 crore. Authorities have so far recovered ₹80 lakh of the extorted amount.
